welcome to december daily 2012!
Between me and you, I wasn’t sure I was going to commit to December Daily this year. I’ll be honest, it’s just so much work. Even though I had cut down some papers to 5×7 back in October I was still unsure I would do this until… ohhhh, probably a few days ago.
So… I’m not sure what to make out of that. You’d think if I was so unsure about it that my chances of finishing the album are slim to none.
BUT… I just love, love Christmas and I love documenting the holiday season. Even though I’ve made several failed attempts at the album in years past I’m still happy with what I DID finish. So, admittingly, my sights aren’t set too high here, but I’m giving it a go anyway.
For my cover, I cut an overweight clear Hambly transparency. It isn’t anything fancy and I like it that way. My favorite is the woodgrain Studio Calico patterned paper, I have probably a dozen of these sheets that I was hoarding for this project and next year’s Project Life. You’ll see me use this paper again in the future.
We always cut down our Christmas tree on Thanksgiving weekend so it never falls within the month of December. I usually just utilize my “Day One” with our visit to the tree farm, but I had another holiday tradition planned on December 1st so I had to improvise. I decided to add a pre-December page because it was important to me to document this tradition. A little imperfect… maybe, but I’m fine with that.
On Day One we ran the “Race for the Light” which is an annual 5k (or, this year- 3.2 miles for whatever reason). I’ve been running it every year since its inception in 2006 and Casey and I have now ran it the past 4 years together. This year we brought along our dog- even though he technically wasn’t allowed. It’s such a fun tradition- the race weaves through one of our parks that is decked out in hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights.
Just like my page on this event last year, I decided to include my race bib. It isn’t entirely fashionable, I know, but I just love memorabilia. I tried to fancy it up a bit by adding the American Crafts glitter tape.
I didn’t purchase any new Christmas products this year because my stash is drowning with supplies; but, I did make one exception because I couldn’t resist buying some fun holiday badges from Marcy’s shop. It was my one splurge.
And so that’s my December Daily so far. Thankfully these few spreads came together very quickly for me… I hope that remains the case!
Are you doing a December Daily this year, if so, how is it coming along?!
